2015

Well it's January 1, 2015 and this completes our 10th year at the Inn. Can't believe 10 years ago we traveled from California by car to Intervale, NH to buy an Inn. Just so happens that not only are we celebrating 10 years, but this year the Inn is celebrating its 125th Anniversary. Yes, this Inn opened in 1890 and has been run as an Inn ever since. If walls could talk, I'd love to hear the conversations from when Erving Berlin visited. You know that this is the Inn that inspired him to write the story called Holiday Inn. That's the very movie that brought us here. And to have heard the conversations when John Updike visited the Inn, especially when he wrote a short story about Mr. Houghton - "The Miserly Innkeeer".  I think another visit that would have interested me would have been when Tammy Wynette pulled her tour bus in the parking looking for a place to relax a couple days. My favorite conversations are with our guests on the front porch. And what happens on the porch, stays on the porch.

Summer Days are here again!

Don't know about you, but I am glad summer has arrived. And it's gorgeous up here. Mid 70's and a 5 to 10 mile an hour breeze makes it perfect. The pool is open and we're just chillin.
Don't forget about Date Night on Wednesdays (weather permitting).  We show a movie by the pool in the evening at dusk and the popcorn is on us. There is plenty of time to get away this summer, cause August has 5 weekends to choose from. Have a great summer everyone!

Skiing at its best

It's spring like weather up here and skiing couldn't be better for conditions.  Monday thru Friday ski specials are $ 39.00 per person. So take a break and take a few runs before the season is gone.

August and the weather is devine

So August is here and it looks like it's going to be beautiful weather for a change. This summer has been a little wet, but things are looking up. Waterfalls are flowing and the river isn't too low. So come up and swim, canoe or just soak in the sun.

July is almost gone!

It's the 29th of July and I can honestly say: Where did it go? First June slipped by and now July, I feel like I went down for a long summers nap. August is coming and we're offering a special: Stay three nights and the fourth night is on us. (Not available in connection with any other offer). Date Night at the Inn

Wednesday is Date Night at the Inn. Movies under the stars and free popcorn (weather permitting). We're showing romance with a light comedy attached, you know like all of us experience on a day to day basis, right ladies! I had to explain to some of the guys that Die Hard movies aren't appropriate for a date night setting, hopefully all others will understand. Have a great summer!

May Flowers

Somebody pinch me! It's the 4th of May, the weather is beautiful and I'm working. What's wrong with this picture? The only thing good about work, is that we have so many wonderful guests that it doesn't seem like work.

The birds are chirping and the flowers are blooming. There's not a better time to visit and we've listed some specials for ideas of things to do. Come up and join us on the porch for a cup of coffee.

April is springing up the place!

Well, we're almost out of snow for the season and it's 32 degrees, but feels like 45. Yes, this weekend the temps are reaching 51 degrees. Great weather for a hike or picnic lunch. Come on up and see the changes we're making at the inn this weekend and receive 20% off the room rate.

March is Maple Month in New Hampshire

March is just around the corner an you can already smell maple in the air. Not really, but I do enjoy the thought of it. You know when your given a stack of panckes and you pour on the syrup. The smells that remind you of when you were a kid, when  Mom made breakfast. That's the smell I'm looking forward to this March.
The weekend of March 23rd and 24th is a great time to visit the sugar houses in New Hampshire. Samples are offered and everywhere you look, people are makig things with maple. Heck I even get in to the mode with fresh cinnamon rolls and maple syrup. This year I'm trying a new recipe for maple scones and Mitch is already working on maple-butter for the pancakes. Maple month, come up and try it.

February is for Lovers

You know when February rolls around I always look for little things my spouse might enjoy to show him how much he means to me everyday. This year it's Big Red Wax Lips! It might sound funny to you, but he enjoys chewing on the wax and those little wax bottles with liquid in them don't last long. If nothing else, it makes him laugh and thats a healthy thing.

Superbowl weekend and we're marinating the wings to get them ready. Now mind you, this is the only football game we watch because it the most important one to see. So have a great superbowl day and lay off the hot sauce. We're not getting any younger.

Snowing still!

So remember yesterday when I posted that it started snowing? Well is't still snowing and we have been blessed with about 5 inches so far. And it looks as though the Snow Goddess isn't done with us yet. Updates to follow.

It's snowing, it's snowing !

Well, it's looks as though it worked. Our request to our guests to: Do the Dance, worked. It's snowing and it looks like we'll have a White Christmas after all.

The ski resorts are open and making their own snow as well. Hopefully this holiday season will be filled with skiing, tubing and alot of fun for all.

Post Cookie Tour

Well, the Cookie Tour is over and the cookies are gone. Alot of fun ad alot of work, but we enjoyed meeting so many nice people that the reward is ours.

Remind me that I said this next year will you.

August Nights

This summer we have been enjoying movies every Wednesday night by the pool (weather permitting). It might sound silly but we call it:  "Date Night at the Inn". Movies that bring back the romance in all of us. Remember ladies, when you were young and movies made you dream of meeting your "Knight in Shining Armour"? Romance like holding hands as you stroll, stealing a kiss when no one is looking. Gentler times before cell phones were invented. That's our version of date night!

Pool Time!

Yes the pool is repaired and will be filled by the weekend. Only a few rooms left, so don't wait too long. The weather man says sunny all weekend.

Spring at it's best

Just over two weeks into April and the weather has taken an unusual turn for the best.  So nice in fact I had to take a walk in our woods to see how our hiking trail conditions were after the winter season.  As expected there are a few trees across the trail; some in need of chainsaw removal, but mostly basic cleanup. It's like summer in the forest folks and you can't help loving it! 

April 16th

Okay, am I crazy or are we having August weather in April? It was beautiful today, but a little warm for me this time of year. Not that I'm looking for more snow, but it's April. I need a couple months of cool breezes before the heat comes this way.

April and the Snow is gone?

Yes, this winter has really been different. Here we are in April and the grass is green, birds in the trees and I'm thinking of flower ideas for the garden. How did this happen?

I've been excited about early planting before and then we received two snow storms that April. So I think I'll just sit back and read a good book.

Saturday is a snow day!

Today is a day to play in the new snow that's fallen. Yes we have a snow day today. Lightly coming down and a crisp chill in the air. Great day for snow angels and making snowmen!
